the rome edition

Salita di S. Nicola da Tolentino, 14, 00187 Roma RM, Italy

The Rome Edition, located in the heart of Rome, about a 10 minute walk from The Trevi Fountain, is by far my favorite hotel in the city. Every guest who has visited me in Rome has ended up here.

The hotel was opened in 2023 in a converted 1940s bank building. It features 74 guest rooms, 17 suites, and includes their iconic ‘ANIMA’ restaurant, ‘JADE BAR’, ‘PUNCH ROOM’, and stunning rooftop.

Many already know the Edition brand, but the Rome Edition has quickly become one of the most iconic. With its signature billiards table, beautiful interiors, and the perfect balance of luxury and warmth, it is a must-visit while in Rome.

My favorite thing about this hotel is how every corner feels thought out. On my first visit, it was winter, I had no idea of their rooftop since it was closed for the season. Instead, I was greeted by tall ceilings, beautiful greenery, and the hotel’s famous billiards table that you can actually play on. My friends and I always take full advantage of that each time.

To the right of reception, there is The Jade Room, a space filled with deep green velvet furniture, green marble accents, and a soft glow that makes it one of the most inviting rooms in the city.

Take a left down the hallway and you will find The Punch Room, the hotel’s signature bar. It feels like a luxurious 1920s speakeasy. The red velvet seating, the fur throws, and the quiet hum of the music make it one of my favorite places in all of Rome, besides the Colosseum, I suppose.

The Punch Room’s menu is unlike any other. Alongside the classics, they offer a full book of cocktails, each inspired by different Edition locations around the world. Every drink has a story behind it, told through short narratives that make the experience feel both personal and creative.

My favorite was the Shinrai, which includes Nikka vodka, Nikka whisky, Ginjo Yuzusian, oolong milk tea, and an Edition shrub blend. Its backstory follows a 16th-century trader on a journey along the Silk Road, bringing botanicals from East to West.

Another standout was the Big Bang, a sweet, velvety drink made with Tanqueray Ten gin, arrak popcorn tea infusion, spiced milk wash, and a citric juice mix. Its story traces an alchemist in Florence learning the art of distillation from Leonardo da Vinci himself.

The man has brown hair, wears a white shirt with a dark sweater tied around his shoulders and white pants.

‘the roof’

“The Roof” is by far my favorite feature of the hotel. It is located on the seventh floor with stunning views of Rome and includes a year-round heated plunge pool, plush daybeds, and an open-air bar that always feels alive. They serve Mediterranean bites and their signature cocktails, making it one of the best places in the city for an aperitivo. My go-to order is always their burrata and a Pornstar Martini. It never fails.

The atmosphere is lively yet refined, with music that mixes with the golden light that radiates from the Roman sunset, making everything feel cinematic. It manages to stay sophisticated while still relaxed, the kind of place where you can dress up for dinner or show up straight from a day of exploring and still feel perfectly at home.
